Louis Landry is the Chief Technology Officer at Teradata, guiding the company's technological vision and innovation strategy during a pivotal time in the data and analytics industry. As CTO, Louis works to leverage Teradata's core strengths and natural advantages as the company addresses the shift towards open and connected data platforms and the revolution in artificial intelligence, including generative AI.
Landry emphasizes internal innovation and fosters a collaborative culture with a common goal of redefining the enterprise data platform for the AI era. With more than two decades of experience in software architecture and engineering leadership, he is dedicated to advancing Teradata’s technologies to meet the ever-evolving needs of modern enterprises.
Since 2020, Landry has served as the Vice President of Technology & Innovation, leading Teradata's advanced research and development function. Under his leadership, Louis’ team has incubated groundbreaking projects such as silicon Independence, enabling Teradata to leverage ARM processors, and spearheaded data relationship discovery through semantic mapping. Landry also oversaw the compute engine project that evolved into Teradata AI Unlimited and most recently the Vectors at Scale initiative poised to bring another level of performance and scale to retrieval augmented generation (RAG) applications.
Previously, Landry held key leadership positions at Teradata, including Engineering Fellow and CTO of UDA Platform Technologies. Before joining Teradata, he held significant roles at several leading technology companies. At MicroStrategy, he focused on analytics product development, and at Sears Holdings Corporation, he led the design of a real-time data acquisition platform using open-source technologies. At eBay Inc., Landry led the development of an analytics platform for top sellers and an internal analytics-as-a-service project focused on making the company more data-driven.
Landry has also made significant contributions to the open-source community through his role as a Project Leader and Development Coordinator for the Joomla! project, from 2005 to 2011. During this period, Joomla! became one of the world's most popular open-source content management systems, powering millions of websites globally. Landry led a global team of volunteer developers in the high-level design and development of Joomla's platform libraries and applications.
Landry holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Louisiana Tech University and a Rethink Strategy Certificate from Harvard Business School.
